David Furney
Dean of Health and Technology, Onondaga Community College
David Furney is the Dean of Health and Technology at Onondaga Community College (OCC). With an academic background in engineering, mathematics, and math education, he holds an M.A.T. in Secondary Math Education. David began his career at OCC as a math faculty member, a role he held for eight years before transitioning to Dean of Instructional Services. In this role, he led professional development initiatives for faculty and staff, oversaw credit and non-credit curriculum development and implementation, and headed the development of workforce programs in health and technology.
Since August 2024, David has served as Dean of Health and Technology, where he continues to innovate educational spaces and strategies. He has been active in advancing OCC's health and technology programs, ensuring they align with contemporary workforce needs and technological advancements. David's work reflects a commitment to fostering a dynamic and interactive learning environment that prepares students for the evolving demands of the health and technology sectors.
